After a decade of research, the ORIXÁS HOUSE was founded in 1978 in the colonial town of Embu das Artes – São Paulo, Brazil, by Erich Steffen and Graça, with the purpose of study, develop and preserve the Brazilian culture, rooted at Amerindian, African and European fields of Anthropology, Visual Arts, Music and Gastronomy.

 

In its 35 years of activities, the ORIXÁS HOUSE was responsible for the implementation of the Restaurant Orixás, two Art Galleries, The Quiriri Cultural Space (House of Culture), the Indian Museum (currently based in Europe), the atelier of sculptures as well as the art workshops at Sitio da Cachoeira (current Mataganza, headquarters of TGB – www.temploguaracy.org.br).
 

Na década de 80, além de inúmeras atividades culturais, a CASA ORIXÁS de EMBU deu apoio a produçao e suas Galerias de Arte comercializaram mais de 5000 obras de arte das mais representativas da cultura brasileira.

A maior parte destas obras foram adquiridas por colecionadores europeus e encontram-se e fotografadas e catalogadas
